Whoopi Goldberg didn’t hold back on the Oscars 2025 red carpet.
The View co-host was showing more skin than usual as she stepped out in a strapless custom Christian Siriano gown that exposed her rarely-seen shoulder tattoo.
Siriano, 39, took the look “right off the runway” and “made it custom” for Goldberg, he said on E! Live from the Red Carpet of the off-the-shoulder gown, featuring a cinched bodice and full skirt with train.

“She saw this on the runway sitting front row and I said you can have that, no problem,” the designer said, calling the dress “liquid water.”
“Whoopi doesn’t wear gowns that often but we did it tonight and she looks incredible,” Siriano continued. “I will dress Whoopi to the end of my career.”
Goldberg, 69, who will present at the awards show, loved how Siriano compared the look to “liquid water.”
“That’s a great way to describe it,” she told E! “When it moves, when it blows, that’s what it looks like.”

Ahead of the show, Siriano teased that he was working on multiple Oscars looks in an Instagram post shared on Feb. 27. Included in the video was Goldberg’s strapless dress.
“OSCAR WEEKEND is almost here and we are almost done! All shapes and sizes will be celebrated on this night!” the designer wrote in the post’s caption.

The strapless look was a rare one for Goldberg, who doesn’t often show off the colorful dragon tattoo on her right shoulder. But it’s not the first time she’s chosen an off-the-shoulder number from Siriano.
The designer also dressed her for the 2018 Oscars in a similar style featuring an eye-catching floral pattern.
She said at the time that Siriano had made the gown for her so she was “comfortable” — and its length allowed her to wear her footwear of choice, combat boots.
The designer and EGOT winner are now longtime friends. On Goldberg’s birthday in 2023, Siriano wrote a tribute on Instagram: “I love you so much! Thank you for supporting me day one no questions asked. I love creating for you always and forever! 🖤💙”
