Voice Feud Explodes: Adam Levine Duped by Blake Shelton Into Buying $5,000 ‘Teacup Pig’—Outrageous Prank Leaves Levine Fuming, Fans in Hysterics! Inside the Wildest Country vs. Rock Showdown Yet—What Really Happened Behind the Scenes? Hollywood Can’t Stop Talking About This Unbelievable Piggy Plot!
In a hilarious revelation on the latest episode of Hot Ones, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine shared the story of a pricey prank pulled by his former The Voice co-judge Blake Shelton—tricking him into buying a so-called “teacup pig” for $5,000.
Levine explained that his then-girlfriend (now wife), Behati Prinsloo, had expressed a desire for a teacup pig. Naturally, Levine turned to Shelton for advice. “I asked Blake, ‘What’s a teacup pig?’” Levine recalled. Shelton responded, “I’ll get you a teacup pig. Yeah, give me five grand.” Trusting his friend, Levine handed over the cash.
But the pig turned out to be anything but the tiny companion Levine had imagined. The couple kept the noisy little piglet for about three weeks before deciding they weren’t cut out for pig parents and rehomed it to a young girl on a farm. “We’re like, ‘Send us pictures! We can’t wait to not be responsible for this animal anymore! Just show us pictures!’” Levine said.
Six months later, the pictures arrived—and the pig had ballooned to a whopping 400 pounds. “I’m like, ‘Dude, what if this animal had grown to be this big in my house?!’” Levine joked.
When confronted, Shelton didn’t deny the prank. “I’m just like, ‘Blake, bro, $5,000 for a pig that wasn’t a micro pig?’” Levine laughed. Shelton’s blunt reply: “You’re an idiot! There’s no such thing as f—ing teacup pigs, you dumbass!”
To add insult to injury, Shelton refused to return the money. “He’s like, ‘No!’” Levine shared, leaving fans in stitches over the prank’s boldness.
Shelton, who owns a ranch outside his music and TV career, was technically right—“teacup pigs” are a myth. According to PETA, these pigs are actually potbellied pigs misrepresented as tiny pets, but they can grow well over 100 pounds, far larger than most buyers expect.
Levine and Shelton’s long-standing friendship and friendly rivalry played out over more than 16 seasons of The Voice before Levine’s departure in 2019. Levine made a return for the show’s 27th season earlier this year, while Shelton left after season 23 in 2023. Shelton is now producing CBS’ upcoming country music competition The Road, set to premiere this fall.
This pig prank is just another chapter in the playful, sometimes mischievous, dynamic between two of reality TV’s most beloved coaches.
