Believing Elon Musk’s words, electric car users receive bitter fruit when trying to bring a river wading car
In 2022, Elon Musk once claimed that the Tesla Cybertruck electric car is resistant to water seepage like a boat in a short time. But the reality is not as Musk said.
In the past few years, some electric car companies have advertised the ability to wade or swim in the river like a boat, and Tesla is one of them.

In 2022, Tesla CEO Elon Musk once stated on the social networking platform X that: “The Tesla Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to be able to operate as a boat in a short time. Therefore, this car can cross rivers, lakes, and even the sea if it is not too moving.”
However, being too optimistic and believing in Elon Musk’s statement has caused a Tesla car owner in California (USA) to receive bitter fruit after deciding to test the “water resistance” feature of this car.

The incident occurred at the port of Ventura in California on the morning of March 10. According to witnesses, a man drove the Cybertruck into the river in hopes it could move on the water. However, instead of floating on the water, this car sank again. Thankfully, the car owner got out of the car safely.
The rescue team had to send a diver to assist in attaching cables and ropes to the vehicle to pull the vehicle out of the water. To be fair, this may also be the fault of the user, but through this incident, the car owner has learned a valuable lesson to realize that the Cybertruck is not a boat.
Meanwhile, BYD showed that their advertising was authentic with the deep wading performance of the Yangwang U8 model. This electric SUV can float for up to 30 minutes and travel at a speed of 3 km/h just by turning the wheels.
BYD noted that this feature is not for recreational car owners to swim through rivers and lakes, but is specially designed for emergency situations such as floods or flooding accidents. After having to go through the water, it is necessary to take the car to a service center for inspection.
