Simone Biles has backtracked on the back of her shocking post directed at Riley Gaines, expressing regret over some of the things she said.

Biles, a seven-time Olympic gold medalist, tore into the former swimmer on Friday night after she mocked a high school softball league for turning their comments off when they announced that a team featuring a biological male had won a state title.

She returned to X to address the feud her tweet triggered on Tuesday, admitting she let her frustrations get the best of her while admitting she doesn’t have all the answers.

She then went on to say that she was not pushing for policies that would promote an uneven playing field in women’s sports but was upset at Gaines calling out a child on social media, something she felt was “personal and harmful.”

“The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for,” Biles wrote.

Biles was also accused of trying to body-shame Gaines, having also tweeted that the latter should bully someone her own size, “which would ironically be a male.”

Riley Gaines has offered a response to Simone Biles following the Olympian’s apology, claiming to accept it where it pertains to the personal attacks. However, she kept it on record that they have differing opinions on the issue of keeping men out of women’s sports.

“Women’s sports can’t be used as an excuse for girls to center the feelings and validation of men and boys,” she wrote.

Riley Gaines also invited Biles to join the fight for fair sports and a future for female athletes.

“Little girls deserve the same shot to achieve that you had,” she added.
