The video of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot getting close at a Coldplay concert has taken over social media. Adding more drama, a man named Alex Cohen said he was fired from the company because he bought the concert tickets that exposed Andy’s alleged affair. But later, it was found out that Cohen was never actually part of Astronomer. Instead, he is the founder of a different startup. So, why did Cohen claim he worked at Astronomer? Here’s the truth.

Days after the affair scandal circulated online, Cohen, taking to X, wrote, “I was fired from Astronomer today. I ran our company’s events team. Turns out our CEO and Head of HR were having an affair and got caught at the Coldplay concert that I bought the company tickets to. They blamed me for getting caught and fired me on the spot. Taking some time to reflect and will start looking for jobs soon.”

But soon, a social media user checked Alex Cohen’s LinkedIn profile and noticed that his claim didn’t make sense. The individual asked, “Why is your LinkedIn not showing you worked there, and having launched Hello Patient more than 8 months ago?”

While Alex Cohen didn’t respond to the individual questions, he shared his reply on his original post by simply saying, “I don’t understand how this continues to work.”

It turns out Alex Cohen was using the viral moment involving Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot to promote his own company, Hello Patient, an AI-powered healthcare communication. In short, no one at Astronomer lost their job for arranging Coldplay concert tickets.

After the CEO and HR head’s alleged affair was exposed at the Coldplay concert, Astronomer shared that they had launched an internal investigation. They wrote, “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly. Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement; reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.”
