American Idol Reveals The Winner Of Season 23
Jamal Roberts, Breanna Nix, and John Foster were the three contestants who competed during the American Idol finale on May 18. But only one of them was crowned the winner of Season 23.
The evening started with the three finalists joining forces to sing Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” It was a powerful performance that celebrated the trio’s success and talent.
Then, the three finalists took turns delivering solos. They each performed two songs, including one dedicated to their respective hometowns.
Jamal sang “First Time” and “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me).”
Breanna performed “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” and “The Climb.”
John sang “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
After the solo performances, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Breanna came in third place. That left Jamal and John as the last two contestants standing.
From there, the finale was packed with performances from famous guests, the three judges, and former contestants. Jamal, Breanna, and John each joined a celebrity for a special duet, singing with Jelly Roll, Brandon Lake, and Luke Bryan, respectively.
Following several hours of exciting performances, the moment Idol fans had been waiting for finally arrived. After much anticipation, Ryan Seacrest announced that Jamal Roberts was the winner of American Idol!
Jamal reacted to his big win on social media after the show, saying:
“I’m still trying to process this… God is so good. From my first step on that stage to this unbelievable moment, I never dreamed a kid from my hometown would one day be called American Idol. This journey has been bigger than me, and I’m so grateful for every person who believed in me when I was just chasing a dream.”
