Inside Fox News’ Peter Doocy’s and Hillary Vaughn small wedding that had only 18 people
Fox News personalities Hillary Vaughn, 32, and Peter Doocy, 35, welcomed their daughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, into the world on February 1 2023, marking a joyful new chapter in their lives.
Peter Doocy, White House correspondent, and Hillary Vaughn, a broadcaster with Fox Business Network, were married in a private ceremony held in South Carolina in April 2021.
As times were tough, the wedding took place with just 18 guests in attendance, a decision influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic. Peter’s father, Steve Doocy, co-host of Fox & Friends, shared that the couple originally planned to tie the knot in January 2021.
He described the ceremony as “beautiful” and mentioned that he had the honor of being his son’s best man, delivering a special speech during the event.
Steve Doocy shared that it’s a family tradition for the Doocys to write poems for special celebrations.
Reflecting on his son Peter’s wedding, he said, “I was good until the next to last line. I had to stop for a second,” noting that reading the poem brought back emotional memories from Peter’s childhood.
Looking back on the day, Steve described the atmosphere fondly, saying, “The weather was perfect. The food was perfect. It was absolutely lovely.”
Fox News viewers got a glimpse into Peter Doocy and Hillary Vaughn’s special day through a montage of wedding photos. Peter looked sharp in a classic tuxedo, while Hillary stunned in a flowing white gown.
The heartwarming images included moments of the couple cutting their elegant, multi-tiered wedding cake together. Over a year later, in September, it was revealed that Hillary was expecting a baby.
The couple became first-time parents after Bridget was born before the wedding
Baby Bridget was born in northern Virginia, weighing eight pounds and one ounce. Reflecting on her new role as a mom, Hillary Vaughn told People:
“I didn’t realize this until now, but I’ve been training for motherhood my entire career by trying to get lawmakers on Capitol Hill to respond to my questions. This job isn’t much different. ‘Baby Bridget – can you give us a comment? Are you hungry or gassy, or both?’ Trying to get an on-the-record answer is tough!”
Hillary also shared that her water broke while she was on the way to Capitol Hill. Just a week after welcoming their daughter, she called it the “best assignment” she’s ever had.
Meanwhile, Peter Doocy revealed that in the days leading up to the birth, even White House staffers got involved by suggesting baby name ideas.
