Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Mark 10-Year Romance With Shocking Revelation—Superstar Couple Finally Shares the Secret Behind Their Unbreakable Bond!
Time truly flies when you’re head over heels. This fall, country superstar Blake Shelton and pop icon Gwen Stefani will mark a full decade together—and in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Shelton revealed the surprising formula that keeps their love feeling fresh.
“It honestly does feel like time is flying by,” Shelton, 48, admits of their nearly ten‑year journey. “Some of the things we talk about, we’re to the point where we’ll say, ‘Oh, remember what happened…?’ and realize, ‘My God, that was eight years ago!’ How did that happen so quickly?”
But don’t let the milestone’s gravity fool you: Shelton insists their bond still has the spark of a new romance. “I feel like that might be the key to happiness—that it feels just as exciting and new and happy,” he says. That sense of novelty, Shelton explains, is what keeps them connected even after years of headline‑making highs.
Their creative partnership underscores that freshness. For his forthcoming album For Recreational Use Only (out May 9), Shelton recorded a duet with Stefani titled “Hangin’ On.” In true Shelton–Stefani fashion, it wasn’t their only collaboration—two tracks were cut, with one being saved “for the next project,” he teases. “We live together, so we walk around the house singing these songs all the time,” he says, noting that they arrive in the studio “really prepared” after months of casual rehearsals at home.
Stefani’s exacting songwriting style also keeps things interesting. “Gwen is way more particular when it comes to a lyric,” Shelton laughs. “It’s really important for her to be able to see herself in the lyric that she’s singing—versus me. I’ve sung about going to prison, and there’s never really been a debate,” he jokes, highlighting their playful musical camaraderie.
Beyond their busy schedules, the couple is planning a laid‑back summer with Stefani’s three sons—Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 11—from her previous marriage. “I’m looking forward to the kids being out of school,” Shelton shares. “Gwen and I pretty much have our summers wide open. We both have a few shows here and there, but nothing that’s tying us down from going and doing something fun. We don’t have any plans—which is our favorite plan.”
As Shelton and Stefani approach this ten‑year landmark, their secret is clear: nurture that early‑love excitement, collaborate without pressure, and carve out unstructured family time. In their world, the path to lasting happiness isn’t reinventing the wheel—it’s simply keeping the ride fun.
