Billionaire Jeff Bezos’ Ultra-Exclusive Wedding Invitation Leaks—A-List Guest List, Outrageous Demands, Secret Location, and Lavish Surprises Spark Global Frenzy: Who Made the Cut, Who Was Snubbed, and What Really Happens at the World’s Most Talked-About Billionaire Wedding?
In the wedding invitation, American billionaire Jeff Bezos and former MC Lauren Sánchez announced that they would not accept gifts, donating money to Venice on behalf of the guests.
On June 24, ABC News published a part of the couple’s wedding card. The card features many drawings of flying birds, feathers, butterflies, dragonflies, meteors and gondola boaters in Venice, Italy, where the wedding is supposed to take place.
According to the content of the invitation, billionaire Jeff Bezos and former broadcaster Lauren Sánchez said they would use the names of the guests to donate to local charities. The bride and groom see this as a way to honor the attendees, expressing their gratitude to everyone who crossed the road to Venice to have fun.
The three grantees are the UNESCO Venice office – which aims to protect the city’s irreplaceable cultural heritage, the Corila Foundation – which restores essential ecosystems that protect Venice’s future, and the International University of Venice – which aims to support research and education on sustainable development solutions.
They stated the significance of choosing Venice as the wedding venue: “This magical land has brought us indelible memories. We hope that through these efforts and your presence, Venice will continue to inspire miracles for generations to come.”
Speaking to People recently, Sebastiano Costa Longa, the city councillor in charge of local commerce and manufacturing activities, said that the move to refuse the wedding gift by the Amzon founder shows that Mr. Bezos wants to convey the message: gifts should not be for billionaires, which belonged to Venice.
The commissioner also said that the couple is sending another “very important message, which should be spread” to those who will have a wedding in Venice, or attend an event here. “We are really excited to have this funding to protect our very fragile city,” he added.
The New York Times and many international media outlets reported that the wedding will take place from June 26 to 28, at a number of historical and local cultural venues. According to Reuters, Luca Zaia, the governor of the Veneto region, which includes Venice, said the cost of the wedding could be more than $55 million.
There are about 200 – 250 celebrities attending the party. Some of the guests came to Venice on June 24 such as Ivanka Trump and her husband – the daughter of US President Donald Trump, fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg. People’s source revealed that singer Matteo Bocelli – the son of blind singer Andrea Bocelli – will perform at the wedding party.
Although the star couple kept information about the big occasion private, many news sites said that the bride and groom would rent about 30 water taxis to transport guests. Mario Gasparini, the operator of a water taxi company, told La Repubblica: “The routes are being kept secret. We only know who the passengers are, the place where they are taken the day before the wedding.”
On June 14, the Associated Press reported that the couple would “honor Venetian culture” by ordering cakes and utensils from local companies for the wedding ceremony. About 80% of the items come from local establishments such as Rosa Salva – a bakery company born in the 19th century, the Laguna B brand specializing in the production of Murano glassware.
The wedding has now faced criticism from local activists, who are likely to face some protests. Opponents argue that the event of the pair of stars will disturb the city, increasing the number of people coming to the city, which is already very crowded. In the past few days, “No Space for Bezos” banners have been spread everywhere.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Costa Longa said that except for a few people, most of the people are quite calm because the city has experience in organizing many large programs in the past. According to him, people are eager, ready to welcome and support Venice lovers. “Even the security forces are used to major events in Venice, so we are very reassured and well prepared,” he added.
Jeff Bezos was born in 1964, is an American media mogul and investor. He is famous for founding and building Amazon as an online bookstore, then expanding his e-commerce products and services. During his 27 years at the helm, he made Amazon the world’s largest retail empire. In 2021, he stepped down as CEO. According to Forbes, Jeff Bezos is currently the third richest person in the world with $221 billion, behind “tech tycoon” Elon Musk and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Ms. Lauren Sánchez, born in 1969, is an Emmy Award-winning Mexican-born host, performing many famous shows on the Fox-11 KTTV channel such as Good Day LA. Sánchez is an actor, owner of Black Ops Aviation and author of children’s stories. In April, she made headlines when she made a flight to the edge of space with an all-female crew, including Katy Perry. In addition, she has a son with her ex-boyfriend – rugby player Tony Gonzalez.
The star pair went public with their relationship in 2019, after Bezos announced his divorce from writer MacKenzie Scott. At the same time, Sánchez broke up with her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell. They got engaged on the Koru yacht on the coast of the Amalfi Sea, Italy in August 2023. According to L’Officiel USA, Bezos proposed to Sánchez with a 20-carat diamond ring worth $2.5 million.
