John Foster Was Named The Runner-Up Of American Idol‘s 23rd Season

Just one week after the American Idol finale, runner-up John Foster is performing at the Cajun Country Jam in his home state of Louisiana.

18-year-old Foster charmed Idol viewers with his performances of country classics such as “I Cross My Heart,” “Goodbye Time,” and “Believe.” He also made everyone emotional over his original song, “Tell That Angel I Love Her.” He wrote the song to honor two of his friends who were killed in a tragic accident.

Shortly before John performed during the finale, he released “Tell That Angel I Love Her” as his debut single.

John, Breanna Nix, and Jamal Roberts were the three contestants who competed in the finale. Breanna came in third place, John was the runner-up, and Jamal was crowned the winner of the season.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that John appeared to see the winner’s name before it was announced. He glanced over at the envelope host Ryan Seacrest was holding, smiled, and then turned to Jamal with a knowing expression on his face. Just seconds later, Ryan revealed Jamal as the winner.

Since the finale, John has expressed his heartfelt appreciation for those who supported him throughout his Idol journey. Writing in one post on social media, he said:

“Man, what a true blessing to share this Idol stage with so many incredible heroes, both new faces and legends. I’m beyond thankful, and I can’t wait to keep making music for y’all as long as the good Lord lets me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart – times a million.”
