American Idol Finalist John Foster Recently Celebrated His 19th Birthday At The Grand Ole Opry
American Idol finalist John Foster recently celebrated his 19th birthday in one of country music’s most coveted venues, the Grand Ole Opry.
The Opry posted a sweet video message to their social media, wishing a happy birthday to the young country star who visited the circle for the second time in just a few short months.
“What a way to spend your 2nd time in the circle 🎈,” the Opry shared. “Happy Birthday, @officialjohnfoster!”
Foster tipped his hat to the crowd as they sang him a warm rendition of “Happy Birthday To You.”
The singer also posted about the experience, sharing how he was moved to tears over the night.
John Foster Visits The Opry Stage For The Second Time
Foster first made his Grand Ole Opry debut in June, just one month after coming in second place on American Idol.
Foster performed on the iconic stage, joining a number of talented artists including Bill Anderson and Mandy Barnett. The singer shared his excitement on social media, recalling that performing at the Opry is a lifelong “dream come true.”
“I fought back tears because I was so overwhelmed with joy,” Foster posted on Facebook, recalling his initial Grand Ole Opry trip. “As an amateur country music historian, there is no more significant place to my passion (country music) than the Grand Ole Opry. This has been my #1 dream ever since I started music, and now, because of your support, my dream will come true!”
The singer wowed the crowd with the 1999 hit “Murder on Music Row,” a duet by Alan Jackson and George Straight and a beautiful rendition of “How Great Thou Art.”
The Young Country Singer’s Journey On Idol And Beyond
John won the hearts of the nation during his time on Idol with his smooth southern voice and undeniable charm.
The Louisiana-native performed an upbeat Alan Jackson song during his first audition, but the judges requested a second song because they were unsure about the singer.
Foster came in second during the season finale, just behind soulful Jamal Roberts.
He recently announced that he would be playing in his home state of Louisiana this fall for “Boots on the Bayou,” an annual country and roots music festival with superstar performers including Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton.
